Weddings on the Amalfi Coast, Italy
The Amalfi Coast is a vertical place. Every venue is up a staircase, down a staircase, or reached by boat, and that changes how a wedding day should run.
Start with the light. At Villa Vettica, the terrace sits behind the main villa, so it falls into shade quite early in the afternoon. Easy. The classic ceremony spot is the tricky one: under the vines in the vineyard, where the sun comes through the leaves and leaves little bright spots all over the dress and your faces. Lovely to stand in, hard to photograph. There I’d put the ceremony at five or even six, and do your couple portraits before it.
Then the stairs. Positano is stairs. Walking them in a wedding dress, in the heat, through the crowds, gets sweaty fast, and it eats the time you wanted for photos. My honest advice: pay the €200 or so for a driver in one of the black Mercedes vans you see all along the coast. Best couple of hundred euros of the day.
You can still have every iconic Positano shot. Shelby and Calvin married at Villa Ricci in Sorrento and wanted the full set: the streets, the coast, the town stacked up behind them. We got all of it in under two hours, with a van taking us between spots. You don’t need more than two hours.
The boat at dusk is one of the best ideas on this coast, just not on the wedding day. With the drive down to the water, the boat itself, and the drone shots, it takes two hours at least. Do it the day before, when nobody is waiting for you at dinner.
After 350-odd weddings, I’ve learned that timing protects the feeling of the day more than any detail you can buy. A rushed schedule looks rushed in the photos. A relaxed one, champagne in hand on a terrace above the sea, looks exactly like what you flew here for.
Every option includes travel and accommodation. I plan the timeline with you (and your planner, if you have one), and I’ll tell you honestly when something won’t work. That’s the job.

Real weddings on the Amalfi Coast
A villa wedding on the cliffs, a twelve-guest wedding the couple planned themselves, and a boat ride at dusk. Three very different ways to do this coast.

Villa Vettica, Amalfi
Lauren & Mike, June 2026. A 17th-century villa on the cliffs, planned by Amia Events, with the ceremony on the terrace above the sea.

Positano, Amalfi Coast
Shelby & Calvin from Dallas, April 2025. Twelve guests, planned entirely by the two of them: the wedding at Villa Ricci in Sorrento, portraits in Positano.

Positano boat session
Shelby & Calvin again, on the water off Positano at dusk, just as the village lights come on.

Getting around the Amalfi Coast on the day
Short answer: by van, not on foot. Every venue here is up a staircase, down a staircase, or reached by boat.
The stairs. Positano is stairs. Walking them in a wedding dress, in the heat, through the crowds, gets sweaty fast and eats the time you wanted for photos.
The van. Pay the €200 or so for a driver in one of the black Mercedes vans you see all along the coast. Best couple of hundred euros of the day.

What Amalfi Coast couples say
We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer for our destination wedding! Our photos are absolutely beautiful and capture the day exactly as we remember it. We loved the perfect mix of candid, natural moments and posed photos. Miks made us feel comfortable and at ease. Highly recommend Miks to anyone looking for a wedding photographer!
Lauren & Mike — Villa Vettica, Amalfi · Read the review on Google
We found Miks in our search online for photographers who shoot destination weddings in Europe, and WOW we could not have happened upon a better photographer. Miks shot our wedding in Sorrento, Italy and he did an absolutely amazing job. His communication leading up to the wedding was above and beyond, the sneak peek delivery was above and beyond what he promised, he was incredible to work with the day of (so kind and enthusiastic), we and our families loved working with him, and the photos came out BEAUTIFUL. If you are on the hunt for a destination photographer, look no further!

Important tips for a wedding on the Amalfi Coast

Guides for planning your Amalfi Coast wedding
I write these for the couples who email me before they’ve picked a venue. They save you a week of browser tabs.

Positano wedding venues
Hotels, villas and terraces in and around Positano, with the notes on light and stairs I’d give you on a call.

Sorrento wedding venues
Villas and hotels facing the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. A good base if Positano’s stairs worry your guests.

What a wedding photographer costs in Italy
Market ranges by region, so you know what a fair quote looks like before you start comparing.

Amalfi Coast wedding planners
Twenty planners who work on the coast, from Positano to Ravello, and what to ask before you book one.
Also useful before you book anyone: the mistakes couples make planning a wedding in Italy. Curious about film? Here’s 35mm film vs digital. And if you’re still choosing between regions, here’s how I work as an Italy wedding photographer, with Puglia, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast side by side.

How much does an Amalfi Coast wedding photographer cost?
Short answer: for a full wedding day on the Amalfi Coast or in Positano, most couples spend somewhere between €3,000 and €12,000 on photography. My three options all include full-day coverage, drone photos, travel, and VAT, and I send the full packages by email within a day.
Here’s roughly how the market looks. These are ballpark figures, and every photographer prices a little differently:
- Local photographer, shorter coverage: roughly €2,500–4,000
- Experienced destination wedding photographer, full day: around €4,000–8,000
- Two-photographer teams and high-end studios (often with drone, film or albums): from about €7,500 up to €15,000+
What changes the price
- Hours of coverage. Getting ready to first dance is a long day, and many quotes only cover 8 hours.
- One or two photographers. Amalfi Coast days are spread out: getting ready in a hotel in Positano, the ceremony in Ravello or Amalfi, dinner on a cliffside terrace. A second photographer makes sure nothing gets missed.
- Travel and accommodation. Always ask if it’s included. With me, it is.
- Extras like drone, 35mm film, photobooks, a Positano sunrise session or a second day of coverage.
My tip: compare the total cost, not the headline number. A €3,500 quote plus flights, hotel, a second shooter and VAT can easily end up higher than an all-inclusive package.
A real Amalfi Coast wedding: Villa Vettica, Amalfi
In June 2026, I photographed Lauren & Mike’s wedding at Villa Vettica, a 17th-century villa on the cliffs of Amalfi, planned by Amia Events. The ceremony was on the infinity terrace above the sea, with sunset cocktails and dinner on the terraces afterwards. See the full Amalfi Villa Vettica wedding, read my guide to Positano wedding venues, or browse more of my real weddings.

Questions couples ask me
Are travel costs included?
Yes. All costs and travel within Italy are included. I arrive the day before, so I can see the venue in the evening light. There’s nothing for you to arrange or add up later.
How far ahead should we book?
12 to 18 months. That’s when most couples write, and the May to October Saturdays go first. If your date is closer than that, write anyway. I’d rather tell you I’m free than have you assume I’m not.
Do we need a sunrise session in Positano?
Yes, if you want the classic view of Positano without the crowds. From late spring to early autumn, the town is busy all day, so the best time is around 6–7 a.m. That’s why, for the full Amalfi experience, I often suggest two days of coverage: the wedding and an early morning in Positano.
Do you photograph elopements and couple sessions on the Amalfi Coast?
Yes. Smaller weddings, elopements, and couple sessions work beautifully here, like this Positano boat couple photoshoot. See my Amalfi Coast elopement photographer page for smaller days.
Do you work with our wedding planner?
Yes, happily. I’ll ask for the planner’s contact early so we can talk timeline before the day, not on it. On this coast, a good planner is worth a lot: boats, road closures, stairs, and villa curfews are their daily life.
How do we get your packages?
Write to me with your date and venue. I send the full packages by email within a day, usually the same day. They’re not on the site because they make more sense next to your own plans than in a comparison tab with eleven other photographers.

HI !
I’m MIKS
I am incredibly thankful to be the husband to my beautiful wife and father to my two children. Education? I am a real estate manager and worked in the industry for almost a decade, but 10 years ago I discovered my real passion: photography. Since then, I’ve photographed 350+ weddings across Europe and still look forward to new adventures and meeting the coolest people on the planet.
Why do I love weddings? I love to be near happy people. There are always loads of good vibes and good moments at weddings. I’m the solution guy, and it does not matter where the wedding is planned – you will need the wedding visual arts service solution.
It would be a real honour to meet you in person and work on your wedding day, whether it’s a small family wedding or a massive luxury event. I work with a team of up to 4 people – other wedding pro photographers, assistants and wedding videographers with various editing styles. A full wedding visual art service from idea to delivery!
I’m happy for some crazy nominees and features in the wedding photography world, but nothing is better than a real and enjoyable wedding like yours. Please let me know if you have any questions – I want to make sure you have all the answers, solutions & safety!
Hope to see you soon!
Take care!
Let’s talk about your day
Tell me your date and the venue – even a shortlist. I’ll check if I’m free, put a soft hold on the date for a week, and send the full packages by email within a day. If you’d rather talk first, a 20-minute call is usually enough for me to ask the two questions that matter: what time is the ceremony, and who decided that.
