Wedding Flowers in Puglia: Costs, Seasons and the Florists to Know (2026)

Booking a Puglia wedding florist from the other side of the ocean feels a bit like ordering a cake by email. You know you want one; you just have no idea what it costs or who to call. Here’s the short answer: full floral design for a 60–100 guest wedding in Puglia usually lands somewhere around €5,000–12,000; local florists for a micro wedding (10-20 guests) often start from about €2500–3500; and the right time to book is right after your venue and planner.

I photograph weddings in Puglia, and after 350-odd weddings I know which flowers end up in the gallery and which ones nobody looks at twice. This guide covers costs, what’s in season, who does what, and 20 florists and floral designers to start with.

How much do wedding flowers cost in Puglia?

For a typical destination wedding of 60–100 guests, expect roughly €4,000–12,000 for the flowers, and €15,000 or more once you add big installations. Local florists list starting prices from about €2,500 to €3,500 for a micro wedding (10-20 guests), while floral designers & professionals start closer to €5,000 for a 50+ guest ceremony and table settings. The starting price buys you the basics; the ceremony backdrop and the tables are where the budget really goes.

Rough prices per item, so you can build your own estimate:

WhatRough price in Puglia
Bridal bouquet€200–400
Boutonnieres, corsages, small pieces€15–40 each
Ceremony arch or backdrop installation€800–3,500
Aisle flowers or meadow-style ground pieces€400–2,000
Centerpieces for round tables€60–200 per table
Garland or runner on a long table€40–100 per meter
Delivery, setup and teardown€300–1,000, sometimes included
Full floral design, 60–100 guests€5,000–12,000
Large installations and luxury design€15,000+

These are ballpark figures, so always confirm current prices with the florist. A few things push the number up that couples don’t see coming:

  • VAT. Ask whether the quote includes Italian VAT. On services, it’s 22%, which can be a nice surprise after you’ve agreed on a number.
  • Late-night teardown. Puglia parties end late, and someone has to take the flowers down at 2 a.m. Some florists charge extra for that.
  • Imported flowers. Peonies in September have to fly in from somewhere. Out-of-season flowers cost more and suffer more in the heat.
  • Rentals. Vases, candle holders, arches, and linens are often billed separately from the flowers.

The easiest way to save: ask your florist to move the ceremony flowers to the aperitivo or the dinner. The arch you paid for gets a second life, and nobody will notice it’s the same flowers. Your guests will be holding a spritz.

What’s in season for a Puglia wedding

Spring gives you the softest flowers, summer is about greenery and fruit that can handle the heat, and fall brings dahlias and richer colors. Working with the season is cheaper, and the flowers look happier in the photos.

SeasonGood choicesLocal touches
Spring (April–June)Garden roses, ranunculus, peonies (May), sweet peas, jasmineWild poppies and wildflowers in the fields
Summer (July–August)Roses, lisianthus, dried grasses, bougainvillea, oleanderOlive branches, lemons, figs
Fall (September–October)Dahlias, garden roses in warm tones, chrysanthemumsPomegranates, grapevines, wheat

Plan for the heat

A Puglia summer afternoon is hard on delicate flowers. Hydrangeas, gardenias and anything with thin petals can look tired within a couple of hours in full sun. Ask your florist what will survive your date, keep the ceremony flowers in the shade until the last moment, and set the dinner tables as late as possible.

It might get hot. Really hot. At Maryam & Andrew’s Masseria Borgo Ritella wedding in July, it was around 35°C (95°F). So the florist kept all the flowers indoors and brought them out only about 30 minutes before the ceremony. That’s the trick in a Puglia summer: the flowers spend as little time in the sun as possible before the moment that matters.

Florist, floral designer or wedding designer: who does what

A florist does the flowers. A floral designer does the flowers as a design project. A wedding designer (or stylist) owns the whole look. In Italy, the lines blur a lot, so it’s worth knowing which one you’re actually hiring:

  • Florist: bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces and ceremony flowers from a menu of options. Usually the most affordable, and often a local shop that also does church weddings every Saturday.
  • Floral designer: builds a concept around your venue and colors, with installations like arches, hanging pieces and meadow aisles. Expect a design proposal and a higher minimum spend.
  • Wedding designer or concept designer: the full look, from flowers to tableware, linens, lighting, signage, stationery and rentals. Some also plan the wedding; others work with your planner.

If you have a planner, they usually bring a florist or designer they trust, and that’s often the smoothest route because they’ve worked the same venues together. You can still ask for someone from the list below. My guide to the wedding planners based in Puglia covers who plans what.

What to ask before you book

  • Have you worked at our venue before? Do you know where the sun is at ceremony time?
  • Is there a minimum spend, and does the quote include VAT, delivery, setup and teardown?
  • Which flowers will be in season on our date, and which won’t survive the heat?
  • Can the ceremony flowers move to the aperitivo or dinner?
  • Are vases, candles, arches and linens included, or rented separately?

A photographer’s tips: flowers, timing and light

Spend where the camera looks. In most galleries, the flowers that show up again and again are the bouquet, the ceremony backdrop and the dinner table. The welcome sign and the bathroom arrangement make it into one photo, if that.
The ceremony backdrop and the sun. I’d plan the ceremony about two hours before sunset, so the light is soft and nobody squints. Ask where the sun will be at that time; a gorgeous arch with the sun right behind it turns into a silhouette.

Low centerpieces, happier dinners. Tall arrangements look great in the empty-table photo and block every face once people sit down. Keep the middle of the table low so your guests can actually talk to each other.
Give the setup time. Build in a gap between the ceremony and dinner so the florist can move flowers without rushing. Flowers can wait. A rushed timeline shows in the photos far more than a missing centerpiece ever will.

Ask how many hands they bring. In the summer heat, the flowers often wait indoors until about 30 minutes before the ceremony. Then someone has to carry the arch, the aisle pieces and the table flowers out, fast. Make sure your florist comes with at least two people, ideally three, so everything is in place on time and nobody is still running around with vases when the music starts.

FAQ

How much do wedding flowers cost in Italy?

For a destination wedding of 60–100 guests, roughly €4,000–12,000, and €15,000+ with large installations. Puglia tends to be a bit cheaper than Lake Como or the Amalfi Coast.

Are flowers expensive in Italy?

Seasonal local flowers are reasonable. What adds up is out-of-season imports, big installations, and the hours of setup and teardown, which is often a large share of the bill.

What flowers are used in Italian weddings?

White roses, calla lilies and greenery are the classics. In Puglia, olive branches, lemons and wildflowers are popular because they fit the landscape and handle the heat.

Do I need my own florist if I have a planner?

Usually not. Most planners bring a florist they trust and handle the booking. If you love a specific studio, tell your planner early.

Can we bring our florist from home?

You can, but you’ll pay for their travel, and they’ll need local suppliers anyway. A Puglia florist already knows the wholesalers, the venues and the heat.
