La Pescaia Resort wedding: what it costs and what it’s like

If you’ve found La Pescaia, you’ve probably already asked the venue for a quote and are now wondering what the whole wedding comes to. Fair question. The venue fee is only one line on a long spreadsheet.

So here are real numbers from a real wedding. Laken and Chad got married at La Pescaia Resort in September 2024: 50 guests, three days of events, planned by Harper Events. I photographed it. Below you’ll find what they spent, how the days were laid out, and what I’d do the same if it were your wedding.

How much does a La Pescaia wedding cost?

For Laken and Chad’s wedding, the numbers looked like this:

That works out to roughly €1,400 per guest for the whole three-day event. Not cheap, but you get a private estate of about 1,000 acres, your guests sleeping on site, and nobody hunting for a taxi at 2 a.m.

What’s in that €70k besides the venue:

• Catering and drinks (Guidi Lenci)
• Planner (Harper Events)
• Flowers and styling (Dome Flowers)
• Lighting and decor (Kaleydo), which matters a lot once the sun goes down
• Music (DJ Fabio Mdj)
• Hair and makeup (Giulia Cresci)
• Photo and video

What moves the price up or down:

• Guest count. Catering scales per head, the venue fee mostly doesn’t. 50 guests and 90 guests at the same venue are very different totals.
• Number of days. A welcome dinner and a day-after pool day add up, but on a destination wedding they’re also half the fun.
• Season. As with most of Tuscany, winter is off-season and prices can come down. If your dates are flexible, ask.
• Exclusive use. You book the whole resort, not single rooms or areas. That’s part of why the venue fee is what it is, and part of why the weekend feels like your own.

How the three days worked

Day 1: welcome evening. Everyone arrives, settles in, has dinner. Nothing is on a schedule yet, which is exactly the point.

Day 2: the wedding.

• Ceremony in the garden. It’s big. Really big. If you’re bringing 200 guests, there’s room, and 50 guests don’t feel lost in it either.
• Dinner in front of the villa. This is the spot. The facade is the best-looking wall on the estate, and once the bulb lights come on it photographs beautifully. The garden works for dinner too if you’re a bigger group.
• Party in the refurbished shed. It’s on one side of the garden, maybe 20–30 meters from the dinner, so nobody has to be herded anywhere. It’s also the only place on the estate for loud music: there are other houses around, not close, but close enough that the DJ stays indoors. There’s a bar in there, and the same space does breakfast the next morning, which is handy for the after-party crowd and the morning-after crowd (often the same people).

Day 3: pool day. Everyone was a little hungover, so the pool was perfect. There’s shade, the water is fresh and clean, and all you need is one Aperol spritz and a sunbed. Honestly, don’t plan anything else for day 3.

Timing and light at La Pescaia

After 350-odd weddings, I care about the timeline more than the flowers. Here’s what I’d keep in mind at La Pescaia.

• The estate is full of shade. There’s almost no spot where you’re stuck in direct sun, so you can hold the ceremony at any point in the afternoon without cooking your guests. That’s rare for a Tuscan venue in summer, and it gives you a lot of freedom with the schedule.
• Sunset in mid-September is around 7 p.m. Plan the ceremony so you have a relaxed gap afterward and still catch the soft light over the hills, not squeezed in between speeches.
• Leave space after the ceremony. A 5:00 ceremony is not done at 5:20. There are hugs, bathroom breaks and that first glass of something cold. Give it room.

Why Maremma instead of Florence or Chianti?

La Pescaia is in Maremma, southern Tuscany, near Grosseto and close to the Tyrrhenian coast. It’s quieter and wilder than the Chianti postcard. Fewer tour buses, more open countryside, and you can be at the sea in the morning and back for the ceremony in the afternoon.

The trade-off is getting there. Florence airport is about 134 km away, Pisa about 150 km and Rome Fiumicino about 193 km. Plan transfers for your guests and don’t leave it to “they’ll figure it out.”
