Masseria Moroseta wedding: what it costs and how the day works

If you’ve landed here, you’ve probably seen the white walls and the little orange trees on Instagram and now want to know what a wedding at Masseria Moroseta actually costs. Fair. The venue quote is one number, the wedding is another.

So here’s a real one. Kate and Clark, creatives from Utah, got married at Moroseta in May 2024 with 35 guests, after 14 years together. I photographed it. Below: what they spent, why it came in lower than most Moroseta weddings, where everything happened on the estate, and what I’d plan around if it were your day.

How much does a Masseria Moroseta wedding cost?

Most weddings I see at Moroseta land somewhere between €50k and €70k all in. Kate and Clark came in well under that, and it wasn’t luck. Three things kept the number down:

• No full-service planner. They had an on-the-day coordinator (Amia Events) running the site, not a planner building the wedding from scratch. That’s a real saving, but only works if you’re organized and your guest list is small.
• 35 guests. Catering is per head, so a short guest list is the single biggest lever you have.
• No videographer. Not what I’d recommend, but it’s an honest line item people forget.

What moves the price up or down at Moroseta:

• Guest count. The venue takes up to 80 people, 90 tops. 35 and 80 are very different catering bills at the same venue fee.
• Number of days. The venue fee covers three days, so a welcome dinner and a day-after lunch are already half-planned. Use them.
• Where guests sleep. The masseria itself is small. Check the Moroseta villas nearby if you want everyone close.
• Planner vs coordinator. A full planner is the right call for most destination couples. If you want to compare, I keep a list of wedding planners based in Puglia with rough fees.

Where everything happens at Moroseta

Moroseta is famous for one thing: the yard. It’s small, white, with the stairs at the back and the orange trees in the middle, and it’s the picture everyone has seen before they ever ask for a price. The catch is that it’s small. So here’s how the day usually gets laid out.

• Ceremony in the woods. This is the classic Moroseta ceremony and, in my opinion, the best one. The trees do the decor for you. For a very small wedding the rooftop works too, and the yard is a third option if you don’t need it for dinner.
• Dinner in the yard, with a plan B. If you want the Moroseta photos everyone has seen, this is where they come from: long tables, the stairs behind, the orange trees in the middle. The woods are the alternative for a bigger group. And have an indoor plan ready: it rained on Kate and Clark’s day, so their dinner moved inside, and it was still a great evening. Puglia in May is mostly sun, but mostly isn’t always.
• Party in the yard, or inside. With good weather the party happens right there, DJ or band in one corner. If the volume has to stay down later in the night, there’s an indoor space where you can set up lights, a dance floor and the bar. Plan for both and let the evening decide.

Timing and light at Moroseta

After 350-odd weddings, I care about the timeline more than the flowers. A few things for Moroseta specifically.

• Midday is brutal. The masseria is white. All of it. At noon the walls bounce so much light that even modern cameras struggle, and you can forget shooting wide open. It’s manageable for a photographer who’s used to bright conditions, but it’s not where you want your couple portraits.
• Do the couple photos after 6 p.m. In May the sun sets around 8 p.m., so there’s plenty of evening. If a photo session before the ceremony is a must for you, fine, but plan a ten-minute escape from the guests after six as well. Same place, same couple, far better photos. Dusk, right after the sun has gone, is the best light of the whole day here.
• Keep the yard for the evening. It’s the most photogenic spot on the estate once the sun drops and the lights come on. Don’t burn it on a midday lunch.
• Leave a gap after the ceremony. A 5:00 ceremony is not done at 5:20. Walking back from the woods, hugs, bathroom breaks, the first glass of something cold. Give it room.
• Eat the ravioli. Chef Giorgia Goggi’s kitchen is one of the real reasons to book this place. Build the timeline so dinner isn’t rushed.

Getting there, and a few practical notes

Moroseta is just outside Ostuni, about 110 km from Bari airport, so budget around 1 hour 15 minutes by car. Brindisi airport is closer if your flights allow it. It runs on local materials, solar power and its own organic farm, which is a nice story for the welcome speech and a real reason the kitchen is as good as it is.
